Innocent Ways
It is amazing how easy it is for us to justify our actions. In a conflict situation we quickly solidify our position of righteousness and demonize our opponent’s motives. Unfortunately, I know what I am talking about from personal experience…perhaps you do as well.
“All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord.” Proverbs 16:2
Our true motives are laid bare before the Lord. He knows intimately our hurts and pains and fears and lusts that form our mixed bag of motives. I’ve observed that God patiently unwraps the duplicity of our hearts to reveal our true motives. It may take a crisis or a scripture verse or even a word from a friend before we begin to glimpse the error in our motives. But God is faithful. God is faithful!
